Lois Fensterbush Obituary

Lois Fensterbush, 89, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully in her home on November 13, 2020. She was born in Northumberland, PA, in 1931, one of three daughters of the late Richard Gruneberg and Ethel Steckenfinger.

Lois was married for 58 years to Ronald Fensterbush, of Middleberg, who died in July 2016.  She is survived by her children, Richard “Nick” Fensterbush and his wife, Theresa, Bruce Fensterbush and his wife, Kathleen, Barbara (Fensterbush) Skarbowski and her husband, Joseph, and Vicki Fensterbush.  She is also survived by her sister, Janet, of Avon Park, FL, and was preceded in death by her other sister, Alma. Lois had five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Lois was a die-hard Steelers fan, an avid reader of Amish fiction, and a true lover of animals.  She always had a back porch full of feral cats who she nurtured and often set up for adoption. On every Thanksgiving Day until recently, Lois and Ronald would open their house to, at times, over 25 family members, making memories to last a lifetime.

After raising her four children, Lois worked in the Mifflin County School District’s Middle and High School cafeterias for 20 years.  Retiring at age 80. Lois was loved by all the students she served, and she loved them as much or more, especially the special needs children.  She always had a kind word and a smile for every child.

Services for Lois are private, and interment is at Mount Rock Cemetery next to her husband and her beloved grandson Eric.
