Loretta J. Hummel, 85, formerly of McClure, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Valley View Haven in Belleville.

Born August 24, 1939, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Ralph McCartle and Mary Grace (Goss) McCartle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer H. Hummel; a son, Scott Kline; step-children, Fay Stine, Harold L. Hummel; sisters, Betty Kemp, and Robin Nye.

She is survived by her children, Cathy Stank and husband, Chris, of Hanover, Jackie Kline and wife, Lorie, of Mechanicsburg, Brian K. Hummel and wife, Michelle, of State College; step-children, Sandra Finleon, of San Antonio, TX, Wilma Reese and husband, Mark, of Lancaster, and Earl R. Hummel, of Milroy; adopted brother, Michael McCartle, of Sunbury; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Loretta enjoyed attending church at the chapel at Valley View.

Earlier in life she was a dedicated and respected self-employed Notary Public, serving the community for many years with integrity and professionalism.

In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time in nature, camping and appreciating the beauty of birds and the companionship of her beloved dogs.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Mt. Rock Cemetery, with Pastor Ed Kauffman officiating.

Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Burnham.
