M. Ann (Fowler) Singleton, 89, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Feb. 8, 1934, in Lockport, she was a daughter of the late Ralph C. and M. Ruth Tomlinson Fowler. On June 10, 1950, she married William T. Singleton, with whom she shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in April 2010.
Also preceding her in death was her daughter-in-law, Joann L. (Fultz) Singleton; siblings, Betty R. (Fowler) Spickler, William R. Fowler, and M. Jane (Fowler) Grassmyer; and nieces, Linda J. and Christina L. Grassmyer. Ann was the last of her immediate family.
Ann is survived by: sons, Steven T. Singleton, of Harrisburg and Lewistown, along with his companion, Trish Alexander, and Michael R. Singleton and wife, Anne, of Parsonsfield, Maine; granddaughter, Kara Anne (Singleton) Taylor and husband, Jeff, of Parsonsfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She graduated in 1983 from Harrisburg Steelton Highspire Technical School of Practical Nursing.
She was a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lockport and a life member of the Mifflin County Historical Society.
During her husband’s Navy career, Ann made and maintained homes at various duty stations. After his retirement in 1966, they returned home to the Lewistown area.
Ann was employed as a licensed practical nurse and worked at several local nursing homes. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts, counted cross stitch, sewing, and knitting. She had a bucket list which was almost complete with the help of her sons and family.
A viewing for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to Noon on Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown, followed by a graveside service at 1 p.m. at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 US Highway 522 South, Lewistown, with Rev. Rick Bender officiating.
