Martin Luther “Marty” Bradley, 77, of Lewistown, died at 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, at his home.
Born March 30, 1947, in Burnham, he was the child of John L. Bradley Sr. (1957) and Beatrice Lydia (Shotzberger) Bradley (1993), and was always happy to call himself a Burnham boy.
Marty was welcomed into eternity by his parents, nine siblings, Robert Rhea Bradley, John L. Bradley Jr., Dorothy Kahley, Anna Ferguson, Patricia Shilling, Carol McVey, Nancy Decker, Joseph Bradley, Keith Bradley, and a great-grandbaby.
He is deeply missed by his family members in this world: Spouse of 54 years, Aldaloretta “Aldie” C. (Murphy) Bradley, whom he married at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Yeagertown, on Sept. 12,1970; daughter, Jennifer Rothwell and husband, Marty, of Centreville, Va.; and son, Todd Bradley and wife, Barb, of Pittsburgh. Marty cherished his role as Grandpa “Pap” and Great-Grandfather, often treating his grandchildren to his signature mean milkshakes for breakfast when they were visiting. His grandchildren and their spouses are: Jonathan and Nicole Rothwell of Fredericksburg, Va., Michael and Linda Rothwell of Manassas Park, Va., Javan Rothwell of Leesburg, Va., Hannah and Donyor Jumaniyozov of Fergana, Uzbekistan, Benjamin and Eufrasia Rothwell of Amissville, Va., Alex Bradley of Pittsburgh, and Jeffrey Bradley of Lewistown. Marty’s surviving ten great-grandchildren are: Isaiah, Emilia, Noah, Kairi, Genevieve, Elijah, Grace, Abigail, Monroe, and Lincoln. Also surviving is his sister, Deborah Steele, of Burnham, and many nephews and nieces who were dearly loved by their Uncle Marty.
Marty was deeply devoted to his community and bore great witness to his children and grandchildren, many of whom also have careers in public safety and military occupations. After graduating from Chief Logan High School in 1966, Marty served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of Fame and City Fire Companies and past volunteer of West Granville and Burnham Fire Companies. Marty was proud of being a qualified district justice and served in other law enforcement capacities as Public Safety Officer at Juniata College, Deputy Sheriff for the Mifflin County Sheriff’s Office, Granville Township Constable and DCNR Park Ranger. Marty supported his family for 33 1/2 years as a crane operator in the heat-treating department at Standard Steel in Burnham. He was honored to be a member of Lewistown Masonic Lodge No. 203 and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 791, Burnham.
Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. to Noon, Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 First Ave, Burnham, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Noon, with Pastor Christopher Lutz officiating.
