Mary Jane Hummel, 65, of Mifflintown, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, at her home.
Born July 25, 1953, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Merwin and Dorothy (Foster) Hummel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Henry, of Arizona.
Mary Jane is survived by: her companion of 25 years, Edward Heider; step-children, Rachel Heider, of Lewistown, and Zachary Heider and fiancée, Janelle Anderson, of Yeagertown; grandchildren, Gabbi, Brayden and Gracie; a sister, Linda Hummel, of Calif.; niece, Tani Wojick; and a nephew, James Henry III.
She graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1971.
She recently retired from Standard Steel, where she was employed as an office clerk for nearly 40 years.
Mary Jane enjoyed reading, crocheting and knitting. She loved her husky dogs, Cody and Booka.
A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary Jane’s name may be made to Rescue Our Furry Friends (ROFF), 133 N. Walnut St., Burnham, PA 17009.
