Mary Margaret (Lindsey) Pecht, 88, went home to be with her Savior, Thursday, July 9, 2026.


Born September 19, 1937, in Vira, she was the daughter of the late Norman B. Lindsey and Myrtle C. (Aitkin) Lindsey.


In addition to her parents, Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard R. Pecht, with whom she shared nearly 63 years of marriage after their wedding on September 16, 1956; her brothers, Howard Lindsey (Joann) and John Lindsey (Jacqueline); her mother- and father‑in‑law, John and Margaret Pecht; and brothers-in-law Paul Curtis, Fritz Hebeker, and Larry Pecht.


She is survived by her daughter, Tamra Seiler (Dennis), of Black Log; grandchildren Katie Larsen (David), of Polk City, IA, and JDwight Seiler (Emily), of Waukee, IA; great-grandchildren Heidi, Hans, and Allie Larsen, and Scout Seiler; her sister, Melba Hebeker; and sister-in-law, J. Maxine Pecht.


Mary Margaret was an active member of Big Valley Bible Church and a 1955 graduate of Chief Logan High School.


She retired from the Lewistown Sentinel, where she began her journalism career in the early 1960s writing the Ferguson Valley news. Over the years she served as agriculture editor and religion editor, and became widely known for her popular columns Your Opinion, Please and A View From the Valley.


A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7 pm, Friday, July 17, 2026, at Big Valley Bible Church, 139 W. Railroad St., Reedsville, with a celebration of life to follow at 7 p.m., with Pastor Jeff Hartzler officiating.


Private interment will take place at Vira Methodist Cemetery at the convenience of the family.


Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Margaret’s memory to Big Valley Bible Church or Continental Baptist Missions, 11650 Northland Dr. NE, Rockford, MI 49341.


Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
