Mary Ann Peters, 73, of Reedsville, passed away at 5:50 a.m., Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at Greenwood Village, Lewistown.
Born April 16, 1951, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Richard Sr. and Phyllis (Spriggle) Peters.
Mary is survived by her brother, Richard “Rich” Peters Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Lewistown, niece and nephew, Ashley Hoar and husband, Mike, of Lewistown, and Todd Peters, of Reedsville, and great-nephew and great-niece, Nolan and Nora Hoar.
She was a 1969 graduate of Lewistown-Granville High School.
Mary was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Oak Street, Lewistown.
She was employed for over 39 years by the Mifflin County School District as a secretary in various offices and in the library, prior to retiring.
In her younger years, Mary was an avid seamstress. She loved rock and roll music, especially The Beatles, and never found a book that she didn’t want to read. Her niece and nephew, Ashley and Todd, held a special place in her heart, along with her yorkshire terrier, Sarah. Mary was a very generous and giving person, and gave often, especially to various Save The Animal Foundations.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., with Reverend Darrell Wireman officiating.
Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
