Michael K. Geckle, 67, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2024, and is now healed and in the loving arms of Jesus.
Born January 30, 1957, in Fort Meade, Maryland, he was the son of the late Albert A. and Clara C. (Gunter) Geckle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Romona ‘Mona’ (King) Geckle.
He is survived by his wife, Faith E. (Youtzy) Geckle; children, Amber Dreese and husband, Dan, of Williamsport, Brian Geckle, of Denver; step-son, Eric Elder, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Adam and Abbie Dreese; siblings, Lynn Peachey and husband, Jon, of Reedsville, Daniel Geckle and wife, Dottie, of Black Log; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church.
Michael was a 1975 graduate of Mount Union Area High School. During high school he played football, basketball, and baseball.
He was a United States Army Veteran. He served in a Military Police Battalion.
Michael started his working career as a carpenter. He worked at Masland Corporation/Lear Corporation and later at Zimmerman Truck Lines.
Michael was an avid Penn State fan. He loved all sports. Michael enjoyed playing golf and fishing. He did The Sentinel crossword puzzle every day. Michael and Faith enjoyed cooking and eating good food together. He loved warm weather and the beach. Michael enjoyed spending time in his garden and by his pool. He enjoyed the little things in life. Michael could always be found wearing shorts, regardless of the temperature outside. Michael was a man of faith; he loved the Lord. He loved his family and friends.
A receiving of friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 115 Maple Grove Road, Belleville, PA 17004, with a memorial service to follow at noon, with Phoebe Quaynor officiating, and special services will be provided by Juniata County Veterans Council.
