Nancy Jane (Loomis) Bowman, 89, of Lewistown, passed away at 9:56 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2024, at Greenwood Village.
Born Aug. 14, 1934, in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Charles Elsworth and Mary L. (McKinney) Loomis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: husband, Robert W. Bowman, whom she married July 3, 1969; a son, Herbert L. Whiteman Jr.; and her brothers, Richard A. Loomis and Charles Wesley Loomis, who was missing in action on Dec. 3, 1950 during the Korean Conflict.
Nancy is survived by: children, Cheryl A. Holliday and fiancé, Jerry Pickryl, of Cedar Grove, Tenn., and Kerry L. Whiteman, of Coatesville; two stepchildren, Betsy Kissell and husband, George, of Downingtown, and John Bowman and wife, Ann, of Howard; and a number of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
Nancy was a graduate of S. Horace Scott High School in Coatesville.
She was a member of Lewistown Presbyterian Church.
She was employed as a secretary at the Juniata Valley Mental Health/Mental Retardation Day Treatment Center from 1974 to 1990.
Nancy loved her family and friends, traveling, knitting, and bird watching.
A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Sarah Sedgwick officiating.
Private interment beside husband Robert will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
