Pauline McLaughlin Obituary

Pauline E. McLaughlin, 100, formerly of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2020, at Valley View Haven, Belleville.

She was born on February 4, 1920, in Burnham, and was a daughter of the late Melvin D. and Stella A. (Narehood) Bingman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; her husband, Charles R. McLaughlin, who passed away December 16, 1994; a son Gary L. McLaughlin in 1989 and a grandson, Scott McLaughlin in 1994.

She is survived by; a daughter, Saundra Baker and husband, Daniel, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Stacey Aubrey; Leigh Ann McLaughlin Ripp and husband, Dan, Matthew Baker and wife, Gwyn, Michelle Baker Grogan and companion, Mary Lou Burton; great-grandchildren, Megan Weinberg, Marissa Williams, Jesse Schwans, Nickolas Baker, Aaron Baker, Tiffany Baker; great-great-grandchildren, Harley and Quentin Schwans; special niece; Marsha McLaughlin-Sample.

Pauline was a faithful member of Vira Methodist Church.

She and her daughter owned and operated Christies on Logan Blvd. which later became Country Gardens. She previously worked at Danks Dept. Store; she became known as the first ‘Welcome Wagon Lady’ in Mifflin County.

Pauline liked to shop. She was all about her family and loved everyone in her family very much. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Pauline was lucky enough to live 6 years in Florida which she considered her heaven on earth.

A special thank you from the family to the staff at Valley View and all the people who cared for and loved Pauline.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pauline’s memory to: Vira U.M.C., 111 Long Lane, Lewistown, or Valley View Haven, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville.

The funeral home will be open for anyone that would like to view and pay their respects, from 1 to 5 p.m., on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, Lewistown. Due to Covid-19, the family will not be present, a book will be available to sign when you visit.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Private interment will take place at Vira United Methodist Cemetery, Pastor Joshua Randolph and Rev. Steve Swigart will be officiating.
