Pauline Adams Sheetz, 89, of McClure, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, after battling cancer at Brookline Manor.
She was born on a farm in Franklin County, PA in 1934 to Frank and Cree Adams. She aspired to owning a farm and achieved her goal in 1973, resulting in long summer days making hay, cold mornings feeding cows, and many candlelight dinners.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Ira Wilmont (Bill) Sheetz; and her brother, John Adams.
She is survived by her sons, Steve Sheetz and wife, Karen Roberto, and Andy Sheetz; brother, Larry Adams and wife, Dottie; and many loving relatives and friends.
Earlier in life she was a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church and attended First United Methodist Church.
Pauline taught school for 43 years in Mifflin County from 1958 until retiring in 2001. She taught many years in the 5th grade at East Derry elementary followed by numerous years as a reading specialist at Buchanan Elementary. She received her B.S. in Education at Shippensburg University in 1957 and M.S. in Education at Wilkes University in 1998. She enjoyed a lifetime of learning, traveling broadly throughout Europe, on many cruises with friends and family, and to bowl games supporting PSU.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 3 pm, Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 3 pm, with Pastor Stephen Portner officiating.
Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery.
