Phyllis ‘Sue’ E. Gibbons, 89, of Lewistown, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Greenwood Village.

Born on June 11, 1934, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Clair M. Bratton and Ruth B. (Brannon) Bratton Goodwin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle E. Gibbons; her step-father, Earl Goodwin; and three brothers, Paul Bratton, Bernard Bratton, and Bryson Bratton Sr.

She is survived by her son, Steven E. Gibbons and companion, Sandra Solt, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Steven Solt and wife, Emily, Troy Solt and wife, Kayla, and Brent Solt and wife, Chelsea; and great-grandchildren, Kalista, Riley, Peyton, Owen, and Charlee.

Phyllis was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, and Brooklyn Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1953.

Earlier in life, she worked at the American Viscose Corporation.

Sue was an excellent homemaker, dedicated wife and mother. Family was her life and she helped take care of everyone. Her kindness will be remembered by all who knew her. She loved her son and her dog, Buster. She was an avid fan of Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A viewing will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m., with Reverend John Harwood officiating.

Interment will take place at St. Mark's Community Cemetery.
