Ralph Miller Obituary

Ralph D. Miller, 96, of Burnham, passed away at 7:00 p.m., Sunday April 19, 2026 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born February 13, 1930, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late David H. Miller and Bertha (Kauffman) Miller.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara J. Miller; granddaughter, Lacey; siblings, Doris Bratton, Zelda Cramer, Samuel Miller, and Richard Miller. Ralph was the last of his immediate family.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Beverly J. (Vaughn) Miller, whom he married February 10, 1950; daughter, Melinda A. Miller; grandson, David; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Madison; many other beloved family members and friends.

Ralph was a proud 1947 graduate of Lewistown High School. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict from 1952 to 1954, where he participated in the Atomic Bomb experiments at Yucca Flat, Nevada. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Medal.

He was a former member of the Fort Granville Grange at the local, state, and national levels. Ralph retired from Lewistown Gas Company in 1992. He was a dedicated member of Walnut St. United Methodist Church in Burnham, where he contributed as a past choir member, served on the Trustees Board, and held the position of Benevolence Treasurer for many years.

Ralph had a deep love for music, played guitar for many years, and in recent years, enjoyed performing and singing with The Merrymakers musical group. He was known for his warm greeting, “God Bless You,” and was cherished by all who knew him.

A receiving of friends will be held from 11 a.m. until Noon, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Walnut St. United Methodist Church, with the funeral service to follow at noon with Rev. Steven Small and Pastor Chris Lutz officiating.

Interment will take place at Birch Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice or to the church he loved, Walnut St. UMC, 203 N. Walnut St., Burnham, PA 17009.
