Ralph L. Sollers

Ralph L. Sollers, 92, of Belleville, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Valley View Haven.

Born June 1, 1931, in Lockes Valley, Shade Gap, PA he was the son of the late William T. and Lola Mae (Hershey) Sollers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Donna L. (Logan) Sollers, who passed in Nov. 2020; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel Sollers and wife, Doris, Donald Sollers and wife, Shirley; and an infant sister, Kathleen Sollers.

He is survived by; children, Sandra McElwain and husband, Daniel, of Farmersville, TX, Ralphie L. Sollers, Jr., and Michael L. Sollers and wife, Janet, both of Lewistown; two grandchildren, Heather Matkoff and husband, Stephen, of Wylie, TX, and Derek McElwain and wife, Ashley, of Hamburg; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Chase Matkoff; and a brother, Thomas Sollers and wife, Barbara, of McVeytown.

Ralph has been a member of the Strodes Mills Baptist Church for 65 years. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, caring father, and devoted grandfather. He was also so much more than that—as a faithful deacon, inspiring teacher, he was a real father to everyone he served. He taught adult Sunday school; he was also a trustee.

He was a United States Army veteran. He was stationed at Fort Hood, TX and he went to Okinawa, Japan.

Ralph worked at Marlette Homes as a cabinet maker where he retired after 28 years of service. He loved woodworking.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jonathan God officiating.

Interment with military honors will take place at Mattawana Cemetery.
