Ray Diven Obituary

Ray S. Diven, 82, of McClure, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born August 30, 1939, in Perry County, he was a son of the late Russell P. and Ida (Holley) Diven.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; a brother, Harvey Diven Sr.

He is survived by, his wife, Eleanor Eva (Bingaman) Diven, whom he married May 21, 1961; children, Randy Diven and wife, Rose, of McClure, Cindy Pandel and husband, Bill, and Kevin Diven and wife, LeeAnn, both of Lewistown; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; siblings, Grace McGowan, of Thompsontown, Kate Swisher and husband, Larry, of Thompsontown, Helen McNaughton and husband, Chuck, of Honey Grove, Harry Diven and wife, Kim, of Honey Grove, Linda Hosler, of Port Royal, and Shirley Hosler and husband, David, of Mexico, PA; and numerous loved nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Wagner United Methodist Church. Ray was a member of Decatur Fire Company, where he was a mechanic and hauled water for pools; and a member of Moose Family Center 143 in Lewistown.

Ray was a United States Army Veteran with two years of active service and PA National Guard where he retired in 1999 after 39 years of service as a civilian technician, Sergeant First Class.

He worked for several years at MD Yoder Garage in Allensville and Smokers Trucking in Belleville.

Ray enjoyed bowling on Wednesday nights. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed time in the woods at the family cabin, going fishing for walleye with friends, playing cards and board games, and completing puzzles in the winter.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Steve Swigart and Pastor Joshua Randolph officiating.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, with military honors provided by Juniata County Veterans Council.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ray’s memory to; American Heart and Lung Association.
