Richard Stimely Obituary

Richard Guy “Dick” Stimely, 88, of West Hills, Lewistown, passed away at 10:55 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at his home.

Born on Oct. 3, 1936, in the Village of Mattawana, McVeytown, he was a son of the late Guy A. and Catherine E. (Dunmire) Stimely.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mark F. Stimely, and his brother, James A. Stimely.

Richard is survived by: wife, Lottie E. (Eckley) Stimely; daughter, Beth Ellen Armstrong and husband, Charles Jr., of Milroy; grandchildren, Rachel E. Weber and companion, Kevin Lynch, and James G. Weber and wife, Natalie; and great-grandson, James Carter Weber.

He was a graduate of Bratton McVeytown-Oliver Joint High School, Class of 1954, and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Richard was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Lewistown Loyal Order of Moose, Mifflin County Model Railroad Club, B & O Historical Society, and National Association of Railroad Passengers.

In his earlier years, he was employed at Noerr Motor Freight in Lewistown.  He later worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years as a postal clerk, retiring in 1992.

Richard loved his Boston Terrier, Molly, and he and Lottie enjoyed their daily walks through the neighborhood and stopping to chat with neighbors.

No formal services will be held.  The family encourages those who knew Richard to remember him in their own way.
