Robert E. Colyer I., 84, of Burnham, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021, at Geisinger- Lewistown Hospital.
Born February 1, 1937, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Homer and Annabelle (Hartsock) Colyer.
He is survived by; his wife, Velva F. (Mahoney) Colyer, whom he married February 18, 1954; children, Robert E. Colyer II and wife, Susan, of Missouri, Bruce A. Colyer and wife, Mary, of Sunbury, Velva Tassa and husband, Paul, of Lewistown, Raymond C. Colyer, of Burnham, Rosanna Briggs and husband, Dennis, of McAlisterville; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Lewistown Moose. He was a member of the Nittany Antique Machinery Association and helped at the Decatur firehouse in the cookhouse.
Robert served in the United States Air Force and United States Army National Guard and Reserves.
He worked as an independent truck driver. He worked for many companies; Shaffer, Overhead Door, New Cumberland Army Depot, The Gap, and lastly at Zimmerman’s Trucking, where he retired.
Robert was family-oriented and loved being with his family and going for car rides.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, September 23, 2021, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
Interment will take place at Lind Memorial Cemetery, with special services provided by Juniata County Veterans Council.
