Robert Cunningham Obituary

Robert Francis Cunningham, 90, of Lewistown, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, March 11, 2021.

Born July 1, 1930, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Irvin and Naomi S. (Carling) Cunningham.  In addition to his mother and father, Bob was preceded in death by a twin sister, Delores M. Coudriet, and older brother, John.  He was the last of his immediate family.

He was Catholic by faith and a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown.

Bob served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict at the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir.

After his military discharge, he gained employment at the American Viscose Corporation in the attire fabrication department until his job went downstream with the 1972 flood.  Back then, he was affectionately known as “Jake”.

Bob enjoyed watching his favorite football teams, Penn State and Notre Dame.  He will always be remembered as a kind person with an appreciation for all things Irish.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 US Highway 522 South, Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating.  Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
