Robert E. “Shorty” Fultz Sr., of Belleville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018.
Born Feb. 26, 1933, in Yeagertown, he was the son of the late William L. Fultz and Edith E. (Miller) Fultz.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, of 62 years, Mabel E. Fultz; siblings, Virginia Smith, Harry W. (Bill) Fultz, Harold E. (Tuff) Fultz, Kenneth Fultz, Doris Barker, Thelma Shoemaker, Gerald (Wimp) Fultz, Janice Eward and an infant sister.
He is survived by: Robert Fultz Jr. and daughter-in-law, Miriam Fultz, of McVeytown, Steven Fultz and wife, Barbara, of Spring Mills, Debra Wert and husband, Ricky, of Belleville; grandchildren, Elena Prince and husband, Chris, Christina Fultz, Kala Fultz, LaRae Fultz, Jessica Geissinger and husband, Matthew, and Rodney Wert; and great-grandchildren, Gage, Mason, and Easton Geissinger.
Shorty worked at New Holland for 37 years. Upon retiring, he opened Fultz’s Small Engine Shop where he worked for most of his remaining years.
He attended Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church.
Shorty served in the Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Crisis as an Army Morse Code radio operator. His hobbies included photography, baking and cooking and vacationing at the beach with family.
Viewings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Chris Lutz officiating
Interment with Military Honors will take place in Birch Hill Cemetery.
