Robert M. “Mike” “O-My” Burkholder Sr.,69, of Yeagertown, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday evening, September 2, 2020.
Born March 14, 1951, in Rockaway, New York, he was a son of the late Robert D. and Elizabeth (Cone) Burkholder.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a sister, Catherine W. Snyder; and 1st wife, Deborah (Pearce) Burkholder.
He is survived by: two sons, Robert M. Burkholder Jr., of Yeagertown, and Billy Burkholder, of Lewistown; siblings, Lucinda Swartz and husband, Roger, of Lewistown, Patrick J. Burkholder Sr. and wife, Sally, of Lewistown, Mary L. Barger and husband, Dave, of Granville, and Susan L. Burkholder, of Yeagertown; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and beloved family in Scotland, United Kingdom; a former wife, Terri (Brannon) Burkholder; and many friends in the community. He will be greatly missed.
He was a graduate of Penn Highland High School.
Mike served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He worked at New Holland and then at the U.S. Postal Service where he retired after 24 years of service.
Mike was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club, American Legion, VFW Post 7011, Yeagertown Fire Company, a member, and a former firefighter of the City Hook & Ladder.
A viewing will be held from 6 pm – 8 pm, Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at the funeral home with Rev. John Walters officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park with special services provided by VFW Post 7011.
