Roger W. Guss, 83, of Lewistown, passed away on Monday March 9, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center.
Born March 29, 1942, in Licking Creek, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Lloyd W. and Lula (Lauver) Guss.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela (Farran) Guss; daughter, Andrea Guss; and brother, Charles L. Guss.
He is survived by his daughter, Alison Eckley; grandchildren, Parcer and Caely Eckley; niece, Emily Guss; and sister-in-law, Jeanne (Klinger) Guss.
Roger was a graduate of Juniata Joint High School in 1959 and Millersville University in 1964 where he earned a degree in Education. His passion for learning and shaping young minds led him to a career as an industrial arts teacher at West Snyder High School from 1964 to 2003.
Roger touched the lives of so many around him with his sarcastic humor, engaging laugh, inquisitive mind and caring personality. He cherished time spent with family; friends and pets, always enjoyed hunting annually with his brother, loved socializing within the community and he was chronically late for everything. He was a devout Christian and an active member of Reedsville Lutheran Church. Roger was a true enthusiast of many passions, was often found tinkering on various projects around his home, had a fondness for cars and car racing and had a remarkable talent for woodworking.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, followed by a funeral at 11 a.m., with Rev. Carla Volland officiating.
