Rosella Arlene Spigelmyer, 92, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Greenwood Center (formerly Ohesson Manor), Lewistown.
She was born Feb. 27, 1930, in Coalport, to the late Clair J. and Pauline (Thomas) Shawver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: first husband, Thomas L. Dove in 1950; second husband of 56 years, Kenneth W. Spigelmyer in 2007; her sister, Mabel Shawver Dalby; stepmother, Florence P. Shawver; and stepbrother, Paul S. Shawver.
Rosella graduated from DuBois High School, Class of 1947.
Rosella worked for several years at the Mifflin-Juniata Vo-Tech School and was later employed at Empire Kosher Poultry in Mifflintown for 23 years before retiring in 1993.
Rosella was a wonderful mother, loved and adored by her four surviving children: Mary Dove Myers and husband, Vernon, of Hagerstown, Md., Kathie L. Treaster and (deceased) husband, Daniel, of Bellefonte, Beth Ann Palm and husband, Tracy, of Belcamp, Md., and Daniel A. Spigelmyer and wife, Teresa, of Lewistown. Also surviving are: six grandchildren: Eric Daniel Treaster, Melanie Dove (Myers) Goldsborough-Hodge, Nathan Andrew Palm, Natalie Nadine Palm, Haley Marie (Spigelmyer) Dill, and Hannah Nadine Spigelmyer; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rosella cared deeply about her family, always putting them first. A resident of Glenwood for 56 years, she often served as the neighborhood babysitter. In addition to caring for her family, she was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church where she was active in church activities, served as a Sunday School teacher and held various church and Sunday School offices. Upon closure of the Glenwood Church, Rosella became a highly active member of Grove Memorial United Methodist Church.
A private family funeral service is planned, with interment next to her husband, Kenneth W. Spigelmyer, at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Green Avenue, Lewistown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rosella’s memory may be made to Grove Memorial United Methodist Church, 611 South Main Street, Lewistown PA 17044.
