Russell Earl Packer, 83, formerly of Burnham, was received into the arms of Jesus on April 8, 2024, at his home in Paxtonville, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born December 30, 1940, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Donald W. Packer Sr. and Esther V. (Kitting) Packer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara A. (Rhodes) Packer, whom he shared 60 blessed years; children, Karen Taylor and husband, Keith, of Newport, Douglas Packer and wife, Jami, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Keira Harper and husband, Mike, A.J. Folk, Brittany Benner and husband, Aaron, and Carson Packer; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Packer Jr. and wife, Jenny, of Texas.
He attended Calvary Bible Church for 40 years, and was a lifetime member of Camp Scyoc.
Russell attended Chief Logan High School.
He retired after 29 years from Overhead Door Company.
Russell was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be fondly remembered for his ability to always see the bright side in life. He was slow to peak; hard to anger, and said he was the luckiest man because of his family. Up until the very end he was always doing, great.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday April 12, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Bob Marsh officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Rock Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Russell’s memory to Calvary Bible Church, 100 Calvary Lane, Lewistown, PA 17044 or to Geisinger Hospice, 106 Derry Heights Blvd., Burnham, PA 17009.
