Ruth M. Freed

Ruth M. Freed, 81, of Lewistown, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at William Penn Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Born on February 3, 1943, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Guy Sowers Sr. and Ilene (Barraclough) Shaeffer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Douglas P. Freed.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald I. Freed, whom she married in July of 1960; Brian L. Freed and wife, Jennifer, of Granville, Pamela J. Yetter, of FL., Keri A. Sowers and husband, Reggie Freed, of Reedsville; grandchildren, Ashley Yetter, of Morocco, Nathan Yetter and wife, Kayla, of Lewistown and Adam Freed, of Reedsville; great-grandchildren, Parker and Paislee, of Lewistown; siblings, Ken Sowers and wife, Natalie, of Burnham, Steve Sowers, of Lewistown, Denise King and husband, Bob, of Milroy.

Ruth was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always provided support and love for her family. She loved traveling to the beach, going camping and shopping. She loved to bake cookies especially at Christmas time.

Per her wishes, no services will be held.
