Shirley Ann (Aurand) McNeal, 84, of Mifflintown, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born January 9, 1942, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Glenn A. and Lena V. (Harshbarger) Aurand.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Harshbarger.
She is survived by her companion, Marvin ‘Captain’ Marsh; two precious children, Mark Todd McNeal and wife, Terri, of Mercersburg, Stephanie Ann (McNeal) Billman and husband, Brian, of Marietta; and a grandson, Christopher Glenn McNeal and wife, Rachel, of Alexandria, VA.
Shirley graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1959 and was a graduate of Geisinger Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Danville.
She was Presbyterian by faith. She was a member of PADONA, Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing Alumni Assoc., Western Clinton Sportsman’s Assoc., Moose, the Aurand-T family Assoc., and the American Society for long term care nurses.
Shirley worked at Lewistown Hospital in the Pediatric Dept., Mifflin County Daycare Center as the Health Advocate, as well as Hospice the Bridge and long term care facilities in management positions.
She enjoyed time spent with family, going camping, vacations at Long Beach Island N.J., Penn State football games, and hanging out with friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m, Saturday March 21, 2026, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 pm, with Pastor John Starr officiating.
Interment will be held privately on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Juniata Memorial Park cemetery.
