Suzanne M. Grassmyer, 85, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Greenwood Village.

Born December 10, 1939, in Bolivar, Westmoreland County, she was the daughter of the late Hans Charles Hoel Sr. and Anna Grace (Robertson) Hoel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L ‘Leon’ Grassmyer; daughter, Jodi Lynne  Hartsock; brothers, Ralph Duwayne Hoel and Hans Charles Hoel Jr.

She is survived by her companion, Frank Stevens, of Lewistown; son, Michael J. Grassmyer and wife, Tina, of Chambersburg; brother, Ronald T. Powell and wife, Janice, of Bolivar; half-brothers and sisters, Vickie Hoel, of Irvin, Chris Hoel, Kathy Hoel,, Mark Hoel, all of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Erin Glick and husband, Adam, Lindsey Muncer and husband, Christopher, Nikki Dyer and husband, Jared, Paige Grassmyer; eight great-grandchildren, Jace, Layton, Liam, Cole, Grady, Johanna, Jaden, and Sadie.

She was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1957. She enjoyed  weekly luncheons with her classmates.

She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was active in the Worship, Music, WELCA and various other committees. Suzanne was active in her community volunteering at the Lewistown Shelter thrift store and at Ohesson Manor for 30 years as well as Steven’s Auctioneering as the cashier for 30 years.

She worked for Cox Cable Company and retired after 25 years of service.

A viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday, December 8, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 with Rev. Allen Hulslander officiating.

Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Suzanne’s memory to: Alzheimer’s Association or Special Olympics.
