Sylvia Johnson Obituary

Sylvia I. Johnson, 91, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Locust Grove Retirement Village.

Born August 9, 1929, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Rudie and Aretta (Ritter) Yocum.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; her husband, Clair M. Johnson, whom she married June 7, 1952, and died Sept. 27, 2012; siblings, Arthur E. Yocum, Terry L. Yocum, Betty Cals, Dorthey Burkholder, Rudie W. Yocum, Jr; grandchildren, Shawnee M. Treaster, Clair B. Lukens.; great-great-grandson, Zaylen A Foltz.

She is survived by; children; Clair L. Johnson and wife, Nancy, of Lewistown, Eileen G. Smith and husband John J., of Lewistown; siblings, Mary A. Yocum, Delwain S. Yocum, Margaret O’Hara and husband, Robert, all of Lewistown; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Old Fashion Baptist Church.

Sylvia was a good mother who loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved cooking and donating to organizations.

Due to current Covid19 restrictions, a private viewing for the family will be held at the convenience of the family.

 A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Lind Memorial, with Pastor George P. Clark officiating.

Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, Lewistown.
