Sylvia R. Swineford

Sylvia R. Swineford, 85, of Lewistown, passed away, Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Ohesson Manor.

Born February 8, 1934, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Roy E.J. and Grace S.E. (Howell) Swineford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: three brothers, Ted, Thomas and Charles Swineford and four sisters, Phyllis Wilson, Eileen Swineford, Muriel Swineford, and Beverly Baker.

She is survived by: siblings, Ethel Swineford, of Lewistown, Kenneth M. Swineford, of Lewistown, Barbara Kelly, Lewistown, Robert E. Swineford, of Lancaster, William A. Swineford and wife, Lynda, of Lewistown; many nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing Alumni, Mifflin County School Retirees, Women’s Service Club of Juniata Valley, and P.S. U. Alumni Association.

She was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1952, Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing, and a graduate of Penn State University, Class of 1993.

She worked as a coordinator of practical nursing at Mifflin/Juniata county vocational school, where she retired after 38 years of service.

Sylvia loved to travel internationally.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, February 10, 2020, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Chris Lutz officiating.

Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
