Thelma Jean Auman Obituary

Thelma J. Auman, 78, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026, at her home.


Born September 11, 1947, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. Auman and Betty D. George (Auman).


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles W. Auman Sr.; and her companion, James Kurtz.


She is survived by a daughter, Brandi L. Borror and husband, Jason, of McVeytown; and sisters, Nancy D. Hellmann, of West Seneca, NY, Tina M. Bidwell and husband, John, of Depew, NY.


Thelma was a 1965 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School.


She spent many years serving customers as a waitress at Walks 322 Diner and later Honey Creek. She also worked at Kirby’s Manufacturing and eventually retired from her role as a housekeeper at the Super 8 Motel.


Outside of work, Thelma cherished the simple joys of life. She loved spending time with her family, sharing conversations, laughter, and quiet moments. She also found comfort and escape in reading, a pastime that brought her peace throughout her life.


A memorial service will be held from 11 am to 1 pm, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 1st Ave., Burnham, with Pastor Jeff Snyder officiating.


Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
