Thomas Andrew Debick, 76, of McVeytown, passed away, Friday, Sept. 6, 2019, at his home.
Born July 9, 1943, in Wilpen, he was a son of the late Nicolas and Mary (Gerak) Debick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John, George, Joseph, Sophia.
He is survived by his wife, Connie L. (Clare) Debick, who he married on Jan. 14, 1977; children, Richard Pratt and wife, Sandra, of Richfield, Sandy Bickhart and husband, Ron Jr., of McVeytown; six grandchildren, Lashanna, Jennifer, Kyle, Stephanie, Jessica, Kaitlin; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary and Ann; brothers, Frank, Paul and Victor Debick.
Thomas received his associate degree at Vero Beach Community College.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Thomas served in the United States Navy. He began a 32-year career in 1962 and retired from active duty in 1994. At the beginning of his career he was stationed onboard the USS Sabalo (SS 302), Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Commander Fleet Activities, Yokosuka, Japan; Da Nang, Vietnam; USS John Paul Jones; USS Iowa BB61; USS Canisteo A099; Naval Station, Annapolis, MD; USS Thomas S. Gates; Navy Manpower Analysis Center, Chesapeake VA.
After the Navy, he worked in the maintenance department at the Vo-Tech, in Lewistown, where he later retired. Thomas enjoyed woodworking and traveling. He was an avid Steelers fan and loved watching Penn State football games.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Fr. William Weary officiating.
Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, in Blain, with military honors provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
