Val Joe Burke

Val Joe Burke, 71, of Milroy, passed away at 4:58 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at home with his family.

Born Sept. 8, 1953, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Wilbert L. “Sonny” and Thelma Louise (Gilbert) Burke.

He is survived by: his companion of 40 years, Joyce Ann Durst; daughters, Valerie J. Bunch and husband, Jeremiah, of Reedsville, and Jamie L. Durst, of Milroy; and grandchildren, Myah and Noah Bunch.

He was a 1971 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School.

Val Joe retired from Jarden Plastic Solutions in Reedsville as a technician.

He loved hunting, going to camp, watching Penn State football, sitting under his carport, and spending time with family, friends, and his puppies, Maggie and Chance.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 1st Avenue, Burnham, followed by the memorial service at 6 p.m., with Pastor Ruth Ann Kephart officiating.

Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
