Velva Louise David, 88, formerly of Granville Township, Lewistown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Elkton, Md., surrounded by her family.
Born Oct. 17, 1936, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late John Charles and Helen Mae (Rose) Wilson. In addition to her parents, Velva was preceded in death by her husband, John C. David; brother, John Wilson; sisters, Susan Barlett and Sharon Knepp; and a grandson.
Velva is survived by: four children, Peggy Jensen and husband, Tom, John “June” David and wife, Barbie, Cindy Jensen and husband, Jay, all of Elkton, Md., and Cliff David and wife, Samantha, of Greenwood, Del.; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bill Wilson, of Lewistown.
Velva was a loving mother and grandmother, homemaker, and friend to many. She enjoyed crocheting, playing Bingo, cheating at cards, and spending time with her family.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Reverend Darrell Wireman officiating.
Interment will take place at Mattawana Cemetery, U.S. Highway 522 South, McVeytown.
