Violet B. ‘Vi’ Smith, 98, of Lewistown, joined her husband in heaven on his birthday and their anniversary, Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Born on May 3, 1926, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Foster and Alta (Rhone) Kratzer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oral ‘Richie’ Smith, who passed away January 29, 2003; siblings, Nellie, Grace, Coy, Walter, Ted, Frances, Vera, Itha, Iva, Pearl and Larue; sons-in-law, Robert Rowles and Douglas Varner.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Rowles, of Lewistown, Vicki Varner, of McClure, Daria G. Harpster and husband, Steve, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Dana Peachey and husband, Galen, Cara Boring, Tonya Kline and husband, Ted, Heather Price, Lacie Wert and husband, Tim, Nokota Harpster; eight great-grandchildren; and great-great-granddaughter.
Violet was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In her earlier years, she worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory for 18 years.
She was a woman that portrayed so much love to everyone she was in contact with, and always looked for the good in everyone. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and going shopping.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2024, at the funeral home, with Rev. John Walters officiating.
Interment will be held at Lind Memorial Cemetery.
She was given great care from her caregivers toward the end of her years and we want to send a deep heartfelt Thank you to them all.
