Walter J. Nale, 79, of McAlisterville, passe away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at his home.
Born August 23, 1946, at home in Brown Township, he was the son of the late Grant W. Nale and Faye A. (Fultz) Nale.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Charlotte Hope Nale; father and mother-in-law, Roy W. Kauffman and wife, Elie G.
Walter leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Deborah J. (Kauffman) Nale; children, Michelle Beaver and husband, Matthew, of McAlisterville, Douglas Nale and wife, Jennifer, of South Lyon, Michigan; grandchildren, Allison Beaver and fiancé Thomas Hunter, Carly Beaver and fiancé William Keenan, Griffin Nale, and Gracelyn Nale; a brother, William Nale and wife, Hazel, of McAlisterville.
He was a graduate of the Kishacoquillas High School, Class of 1964.
Walter honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where his bravery and dedication were recognized with the awarding of the Purple Heart. He remained actively involved in supporting fellow veterans as a proud member of the Purple Heart Association.
He was a 32nd Scottish Rite Mason at Union Lodge 324 in Mifflintown. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion of Mifflintown, National Rifle Association and the North American Fishing Club.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ron Berrus officiating.
Interment will be held at Union Cemetery, Mifflintown with special services provided by Juniata County Veterans Council.
