William H. Stroup Jr., 88, of Lewistown, passed away at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Nov. 7, 1932, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late William H. Stroup Sr. and Kathryn A. (Ronayn) Stroup Augustine.
In addition to his parents, William Jr. was preceded in death by: spouses, Dolly (McCartle) Cash, Enid (Yoder) Stroup, and Patsy J. (Goddard) Stroup, Feb. 12, 2010; great-grandson, Michael Stroup; stepson, Larry Speece; step-grandson, Larry Speece Jr.; and siblings, Barbara D. Cunniff, Keith R. Stroup, James O. Stroup and Barry Lee Stroup.
William is survived by: sons, William H. Stroup III and wife, Judith, of Lewistown, and Rodger W. Stroup, of Omaha, Neb.; step-children, Julia M. Reigle and husband, Richard, of Yeagertown, Barbara Jean Fultz and husband, Steven, of Spring Mills, Judith Sanders, of Boulder, Colo., Gary K. Bowsman and wife, Alyce, of Plattsmouth, Neb., and Joan Kauffman and husband, William, of Omaha, Neb.; a grandchild; 14 step-grandchildren; 35 step-great-grandchildren; and 18 step-great-great-grandchildren.
William was a member of Lewistown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, and the American Legion Post #90, Lewistown.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Technical Sergeant and served from 1949 to 1970. He was primarily stationed in Omaha and was a Vietnam veteran.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, 2021, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.
A graveside military service and interment will take place at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 US Highway 522 South, Lewistown, with Rev. John Looney officiating.
