Donald Elwood 'Kneppy' Knepp

Donald Elwood “Kneppy” Knepp, 84, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, from the comfort of his Yeagertown home.

Born Feb. 29, 1932, in Belleville, he was a son of the late Hazel (Snyder) and Harry Knepp.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters.

Donald is survived by: his loving wife of 65 years, Phyllis (Aumiller) Knepp; children, Rhonda L. Long, of Boalsburg, Dennis K. Knepp and wife, Carol, of Lewistown, Tina M. Knepp, of Yeagertown, and Angela D. Hartsock and husband, Troy, of Lewistown; a brother, Joseph G. Knepp and wife, Mona, of Lewistown; 11 grandchildren, whom he adored; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Donald graduated from Derry Township High School, Class of 1951.

He was a Christian by faith and attended the Lewistown Assembly of God Church.

He retired from Standard Steel as a plant manager after 40 years of service.

Kneppy loved people and never met a stranger.  He enjoyed life to the fullest up to the end of his days, was a wonderful father, and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren.  Nothing tickled him more than when a new baby was welcomed into the family.

He was very proud of his apple trees, enjoyed working in his yard, and loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at his Stone Mountain camp with his son, son-in-laws, grandsons, brother, brothers-in-law, and closest friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.

A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. Monday at the Lewistown Assembly of God Church, 160 Summit Drive, with the Rev. Dennis Sproull officiating.

Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Burnham, is in charge of arrangements.
