Eva Maria Interiano, 5, of McClure, went to be with her Heavenly Father at 1:11 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, after a long and fierce battle with cancer that began at 18 months of age.
Born Oct. 10, 2011, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Kimbra Booney, of Lewistown, and Miguel A. Interiano, of McClure, and the stepdaughter of Miguel's wife, Christen.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, Eva is survived by: her paternal grandparents, Maria Interiano and husband, Miguel, of El Salvador, and Michael Bailey and wife, Jane, of McClure; maternal grandfather, John Mitchell, of Michigan; a brother, Miguel A. Interiano; stepbrothers, Gabriel and Owen Amspacker; aunts who were like grandparents, Mary Panunzio and husband, Tony, and Patty Specht and husband, Rich; and grandparents at heart, Steve and Lisa Knudson, of Lewistown.
Eva was full of life and vitality and brought joy and a smile to everyone she met. In the midst of great pain and suffering in her little body, she made friends wherever she went, was always the life of the party and was infectious with love. Her favorite song was "Fight Song" by Rachel Platton, which became her mantra, and it was typically sung at the top of her lungs. She loved Disney's "Frozen," country music and worship.
Eva was dearly loved by her brothers, Miguel, Gabriel and Owen, and they could often be found in wild Nerf gun battles, watching movies, or just spending time together. She looked up to them and wanted to follow in their footsteps, even wanting to be a Marine like her older brother, Gabriel, wants to be one day.
From loving the Philadelphia Eagles and chanting the fight song every Sunday with her Dad, Eva's life inspired many and brought strangers and communities together. She had a sweet, yet ornery spirit and could be found bossing family, nurses and doctors alike. She could also humble you with her endurance and strength in her most trying hours, by simply smiling through her treatments. She will always be remembered for her wild curls and beautiful smile.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Calvary Bible Church, 100 Calvary Lane, Lewistown, with the Rev. Wes Clemmer and the Rev. Michael Bailey officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
Private interment will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery.
