George C. Vasiloff, 101, formerly of Reedsville, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at Ohesson Manor.

Born Aug. 12, 1914, in Florina, Greece, he was a son of the late Velo and Yana (Christ) Vasiloff.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Anne (Hrubochak) Vasiloff, whom he married Sept. 13, 1939, Anne died on June 20, 2012 at age 97, breaking a marital union of 71 years; his son, George M. Vasiloff Jr., died in March 2015; two brothers, Mike and Tom Vasiloff; and a sister, Mary Meyer, also predeceased him.

George is survived by: his children, Gloria Przybocki and husband, John, of Clarksburg, Md., Barbara Vasiloff, of Reedsville, Joan Riggert and husband, Steve, of Louisville, Ky.; daughter-in-law, Jann Vasiloff, of Spotsylvania, Va.; three sisters, Helen Walters, Grace Vasil and Eva Barger, all of Yeagertown; 11 grandchildren; and he leaves behind 21 great-grandchildren.

George graduated from Yeagertown High School, Class of 1931.

He was employed by IBM as a project manager for 21 years, starting in 1952 as a tool and gauge inspector in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He completed technical courses in statistical methods and quality control, advanced to department manager, and was later promoted to project manager of quality control in 1955. He transferred to Rochester, Minn., in 1956 continuing in quality control, then worked in manufacturing from 1965 until his retirement in 1973 at age 57. He then returned with his family to their Pennsylvania roots.

George was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown, and was awarded honorary lifetime membership in the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Parish.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening, playing the piano and weekly card games with his family.

George was proud to watch from his Ohesson Manor home as he was honored for his 100th birthday by Willard Scott of The Today Show, who displayed George's picture on a Smucker's jar.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating.

A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Interment will take place in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's memory may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 9 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044, or to Ohesson Manor, 276 Green Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
